Lifetime Advocate
Before being elected to the School Board, Maura was a committed activist in our local schools, volunteering her time to improve our public education. She served on the Hollywood Central Elementary PTA and as the School Advisory Forum (SAF) Chair for Hollywood Central Elementary and Attucks Middle School. She is an experienced local attorney with years of legal experience. Her legal background has added perspective in her role on the School Board and helped to increase transparency and efficiency. Maura’s leadership is also defined by her compassion. She previously served as a volunteer for Guardian Ad Litem and Legal Services of Greater Miami. Before serving as an attorney, Maura was a Peace Corps volunteer in Jamaica. This unique background, and her diverse experience as an advocate, has enabled Maura to fight for our students and our families as a School Board member.
Believes in Public Schooling
Maura was inspired to run for office because of her own experience as the mother of four wonderful children attending schools at every level in Broward County - elementary, middle, and high school. Because Maura is still entrusting the education of her children to our Broward County Public Schools, she is fully invested in making sure our schools work for everyone. That’s why, as a School Board member, she has fought to keep our District 1 schools open, increase programming in arts and sciences, and provide watchful oversight of taxpayer dollars. Her continued leadership will help our A rated Broward County Public Schools to continue to grow and thrive.

Being a School Board member is not just a title for Maura McCarthy Bulman. Each day, Maura drops her children off in Broward County Public Schools. She has seen first-hand just how much our entire community benefits from stronger public education - and how efforts to weaken our public schools will damage the future of our home.
We need a leader who understands the stakes and has the proven experience to get things done for District 1.
